The Atelier
A workshop of fifty artisans and cabinetmakers, painting functional originals for collectors who would rather own one than many.
This is furniture, but it is also a painting you can live with.
We build the form, then we paint it by hand: one surface, one composition, one owner. Furniture that behaves like art, because it is.
Founded 1998
In an era saturated with mass-engineered perfection, the ultimate luxury is human gesture - the deliberate stroke of a horsehair brush that can never be replicated.
For twenty years we have made furniture the way it was always meant to be made: slowly, by hand, and only once. Because in a world of mass-engineered perfection, the rarest luxury is not rarity of material. It is the presence of a hand that can never be replicated.
At Sheen Kind, every piece begins not as a file, but as a signature. No two strokes are ever identical. No two pieces ever will be. And that is not a flaw of the craft—it is the entire reason the craft still matters.

Our designers create sketches and technical drawings showing proportions, construction details, and the proposed artwork.
We select suitable material and prepare each component—cutting, shaping, and sanding it to the approved specifications. Careful material selection and precise preparation help ensure the furniture is stable, durable, and ready to receive detailed decoration.
Our cabinetmakers construct the furniture using strong joinery and careful assembly, refining edges and surfaces by hand. This stage turns approved drawings into a solid, functional piece with smooth surfaces prepared for painting.
This is where your furniture becomes one of a kind. Our artisans hand-paint the motifs, layer by layer, then apply protective finishes with careful sanding between coats where needed. The result is a durable surface with depth, character, and a truly artistic finish.
Before leaving our workshop, every piece is inspected for construction quality, finish consistency, artwork accuracy, and hardware fit. We then protectively package it for delivery, so it arrives ready to become the centrepiece of your home.
Limited edition is not a marketing idea. It is the only honest way to sell an art you can live with.Founder — Sheen Kind
